Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
Featured in many National Geographic shows, prepare to witness endless plains, a wide range of wildlife, sunrises, and sunsets that make your heart go wild. Serengeti National Park is recognized for its huge wildlife populations from zebras, gazelle, and white-bearded wildebeest that migrate yearly during the major migration.
Everyone wants exclusive, unique, and untouched safari destinations. That’s exactly what the park gives you. Every camp in the park is slit into individual regions to form the Serengeti Ecosystem. You will enjoy common Tanzania practices which include walking safaris, safari game drives, local Maasai tribe village tours, and balloon rides.
The Serengeti is a must-go if seeking to view the annual migration of thousands of zebras and millions of gnus. The home to more than three million animals prides in various landscapes. On the typical southern plains during your game drive, you’ll be overexcited by the vast plat grass seas.
Trees in the region usually appear around the big granite formations which are commonly referred to as kopjes. The kopjes are the home to the athletic lazy rock hyraxes not to mention the combination of reptiles including snakes and colorful agama lizards. The rocks in the park are also the ideal resting place for cheetahs, leopards, and lions.
Cats prefer the kopjes that offer good vantage points for possible prey and the much-needed shade during scorching heat. Some of the most commonly known kopjes are Simba, Moru, Gol, and Research.
The Seronera Valley is the park core where vegetation changes to acacia dotted plains. It’s the place you’ll also commonly find leopards and lions. The Seronera River banks are lined with sausage trees, lush palm trees, and towering yellow fever acacias.
Areas surrounding the river are abuzz with various bird species, huge flocks of marabou storks, and black-headed herons. Towards the Western Corridor, there’s a change in vegetation, and the place predominantly entails wooden and swampy savannah land that’s famous with the black cotton soil. You get a chance to witness the two big rivers; the Mbalageti and Grumeti that both flow into Lake Victoria.
The Grumeti River is well-known for big crocodiles that enjoy sun basking in the day time. The riverine forest surrounding the zone is home to the uncommon, rare patas monkeys. The northern region of the park mostly consists of riverine forests, open woodlands, and mountains.
It’s here the majestic Mara River flows. With frequent visiting by guests, the place offers you an outstanding area for an intimate safari experience. During the Great Migration, you want to see how the animals overcome the dangerous obstacles on their journey. The park is likewise the home for the “big five” – elephant, buffalo, lion, rhino and leopard. It’s also claimed to be the home of the largest number of lions in Africa.
You spot leopards relaxing on the way while huge herds of buffaloes and elephants graze on the savannah. Also, a couple of black rhinos hide in the bushy areas and you won’t miss various kinds of vultures and eagles.
